Calling all artists…visual, musical, theatrical! Let your art speak for the animals!!
Please contact us if you are interested in participating. We are always recruiting artists, so call or email anytime. We post Call for Artist announcements for specific projects online and send them to our email list. Simply email your contact info, artistic discipline and images of your work (if applicable). We will showcase your work at our events and pay all associated fees. Whenever possible, we pay performance artists (musicians, actors, puppeteers, etc.) for their work. Proceeds from the sale of any artwork, less a donation to Public Eye of 20%, goes directly to the artist. We offer artists great networking opportunities through events and contacts in the art world. We strive to support individual artists whose work raises awareness about animal issues. Student work is accepted and encouraged.
We are currently seeking artists to participate in the following events...
Spring 2007: Theater dance performance, featuring puppetry, to portray human impact on animals living in or near the water. Wanted: puppeteers, storywriters, storytellers, dancers, actors, mimes, musicians, set designers, body painters.
Fall 2007: Annual Arts-based Blessing of the Animals & Community Drum Circle featuring performance art, a craft show and information tables. Wanted: crafters, performance artists, puppeteers, and percussionists/musicians for the Blessing Ceremony.
Fall 2007: “Myths & Logos” - a visual art exhibit depicting artists' interpretations of how animals are represented in the media. Exhibit labels will include information about how the featured animals are actually treated in our society. The text and images juxtapose the sharp differences between cultural mythology and reality. The exhibit will be part of the Philadelphia Open Studio Tour in October of 2007 and travel to Minneapolis - St. Paul as part of a collaborative art project. Wanted: visual artists (all media), graphic designers, photographers, performance artists. Link to Proposal.
Fall-Winter 2007: "Veggie Cabaret" - a comedy night with candid vegetarian humor. Wanted: veggie-friendly comedians, actors, musicians, singers.
