About the Veggie Cabaret |
| Veggie Cabaret is a cabaret-style show with comedy,
theater, puppetry and music, for the 2007 Philly
Fringe Festival. Share funny moments from vegetarians
living in a meat-eating world. We invite all palates
to unite for the common cause of compassion. The line
up includes Dan
Piraro of Bizarro comics, musical comedians Bob
Pyle and Jim
Harris, The Skekses Puppet Company, caricaturist Vance
Lehmkuhl, emcee Philip
Jacobson, comedians Sue
Kelly and Karen Zeitz, and actress Meghan Mitzelon
September 14th & 15th, 8pm, at The Rotunda, 4014
Walnut Street. Delicious vegan food will be available
for purchase. |

Internationally syndicated cartoonist Dan
Piraro shares
slides of his most hilarious and provocative animal rights
cartoons. Shannon Dunham and Sharon Waskow of The Skekses
perform their puppet show, “Birds of a Feather,” starring
Tofurky and Turducken who meet on the Thanksgiving table.
Vance Lehmkuhl performs his signature Drawalong, a longtime
favorite activity at the Vegetarian Summerfest. Comedian
Sue Kelly shares funny stories about her animals with amazing
wit. Jim Harris and Bob
Pyle weave the show together with
their musical comedy. Skits about veggie dating, dining
out and barbequing add sex appeal and candid humor.
“The Veggie Cabaret is a celebration of vegetarian life,”
says Lisa Levinson, director and co-founder of Public Eye:
Artists for Animals. “It’s a social event for Veggies and
Non-Veggies to meet and greet over like-minded laughs.
We hope to unite people who share similar lifestyles and
invite others for a humorous peek into the vegetarian world.”
